Technical Product Manager – Computer Vision & Biometrics Imaging

Job Summary

The Technical Product Management role at Xperi requires a highly motivated, detail oriented, leader to technically managethe product lifecycle(from new product launch through end of life) of our portfolio of computer vision technologies as they apply to mobilemarket in Xperi. Our current mobile market customer base encompasses the world’s leading manufacturers of smartphones, digital cameras, action cameras portable imaging devices and personal computers and their supply chain.The position will be based in either our Galway, Ireland or Bucharest, Romania offices.

This is an execution focused role which will require thecandidate to identify, to create and to support the development of innovative products and product features. The candidate will also work alongside the senior director of product management to build and gain internal support for a credible road map that will drive long-term business growth and sustainable competitive advantage.

The candidate will exhibit proven technical ability in product management andbe totally at home working closely with multiple engineering development teams to deliver customer requirements for products and product features.Strong communication skills will be needed to be a credible technology thought leader with multiple internal and external stakeholders including customers, partners, suppliers, engineers, sales personnel, marketing, operations personnel and management.

Excellent organizational and project management abilities are also a prerequisite. Ideally, you will combine a passion for building new software products, with a strong delivery and technology architecture focus. You will become a subject matter expert inembedded computer vision and imaging solutions for resource challenged digital camera and imaging systems.

The successful candidate will have the opportunity to work with state of the art computer vision technologies including machine learning, neural networks, artificial intelligence, computer vision systems and embedded software.

Essential Functions And Responsibilities

Working as part of a cross functional team with Product Management,Marketing, Sales and Engineering, this person will be responsible for driving execution and delivery of their target product lines,and will have the following key functions.

• Product Owner
  
  • Responsible for detail technical product requirements documentation (PRD) for assigned embedded computer vision and biometric software product releases.
  • Owner of the technical roadmap execution for assigned software products and solution components.
  • Interface with key stakeholders in Xperi, partners, and customers to define, develop, shape, and refine requirements for software/hardware aligned with the company’s business, strategy, and goals.
  • As the Product Owner, you will engage internal and external stakeholders to understand their product needs to encapsulate as a collection of user stories that clearly outline desired use cases, features and overall product goals.
  • Maintenance of a rolling 18-month roadmap for each product line.
  • Scope Control: Manage the trade-offs between new features vs. maintenance and expansion of the current product feature-set
  • Work closely with engineering teams to define overall technical solution architecture and associatedSDK requirements
  • Maintain product documentation including feature lists, roadmaps, internal sales training materials, user guides, and licensee manuals.
  • Project risk and product lifecycle management
  • Develop SoW documentation complete with validation of assumptions, for product line based scopes of work.

• Customer Engagement
  
  • Act as a product and technology subject matter expert for customer engagements
  • Engage with customers alongside the Senior Director of Product Management to understand technical requirements to ensure relevant planning and execution of road maps.
  • Manage internal expectations and prioritization on the execution pipeline (delivery, feature requests, risks, certification, marketing and customer support requests)
  • Manage the timely completion of technology parts of customer RFQs and RFIs
  • Perform product demos both for internal stakeholders, partners, and customers through direct meetings or events.

• Technology subject matter expert. Support sales through
  
  • Product competitive analysis and technical benchmarking for internal and external consumption
  • Definition and support the creation of sales kits for new products
  • Deliver technical sales training to local field application engineering and other customer facing personnel
    
    

Required Education And Experience

• 5 or more years of relevant experience in a technical Product Management or equivalent role in the embedded systems, consumer Imaging devices, consumer electronicsor Mobilesmartphoneswith experience bringing new software technologies and products to market
• Demonstrated experience as Product Owner (Agile) for various software development projects required
• Certified Product Owner or Scrum Master a plus
• Experience with System Architecture definition and solution SDK development for embedded imaging products or imaging industry experience preferred.

• Proven technical planning acumen with a clear ability to create, validate and execute on a system architecture and technology strategy
• Proven ability to engage and work with customers and partners
• Bachelor’s degree in Electronic Engineering or related engineering degree or professional experiencewith significant Product Management knowledge is required and an advanced degree is a plus.
  
  

Other Skills & Abilities

• Must have a passion for innovation and shipping products.
• Background in managing embedded systems developmentdesirable.
• Knowledge of development environments for Arm, Qualcomm, and/or Mediatek based systems a plus
• Experience with software architectures, integration, software deliverables and customer engagement
• Knowledgeable about imaging, video, consumer electronics mobile smartphonemarkets desirable.
• Passion for consumer electronics, gadgets, technology, digital photography desirable
• Excellent customer facing skills with an ability to clearly communicate complex technical concepts
• Strong teamwork and project-related skills, ensuring open communication channels across the consumer and technology teams
