Director of Engineering - Cluj

At ComplyAdvantage, our future success is dependent on the people, process and technology we use to design, build and sell our anti-money laundering products and data. We are therefore looking for a Director of Engineering to support and lead our team and operations in Cluj.

Your primary role will be to support, develop and grow a high performing engineering team in Cluj, taking care of hiring, onboarding, mentoring, coaching, career development, and performance management.

The role

You will take primary responsibility for engineering operations in Cluj. This will include the following:

• Grow the engineering team beyond the current size and help attract and train gifted and passionate engineering talent
• This is primarily a management rather technical role, in that you will be managing and motivating a team rather than be fully immersed in engineering
• Oversee the general management of our Cluj office
• Represent the company where possible to develop the employer brand in Romania
• Collaborate with product teams to understand and translate requirements, ensuring specifications and architecture design meet broader technical strategic goals
• Work directly with the VP Engineering (London) and other key team members to develop the product roadmap, accelerate progress and ensure seamless communication and high performance
• Define objectives and track results for team members in a supportive, motivating, and objective manner
• Identify, research, and propose strategic initiatives in a way that balances both the short and long-term company goals

Requirements

• Experience communicating and managing multiple teams and discussing projects at a high level and at a more granular level
• Experience working in SaaS-based business environment
• General familiarity with all or parts of our stack: Python, SQL, JS, Angular, AWS, MongoDB, ElasticSearch, Hadoop
• Experience in developing software
• Detail oriented
• Outstanding written and verbal communications in both English and Romanian
