Team Purpose
  • Provision of a 247 incident monitoring and escalation service to events raised by client’s monitoring systems.
  • Manage the monitoring, alerting and automation platform toolset (e.g. Sciencelogic) as part of a managed monitoring service offer, with specific responsibility for initial deployment, configuration, ongoing maintenance and optimisation of the monitoring platform.
The Team Leader must have strong organisational and interpersonal skills. This is a people management role with a strong focus on process and planning. Hands on technical work is limited, however good understanding of the team’s technical capabilities is mandatory.

Responsibilities
  • Ensure team and individual KPI targets are achieved
  • Develop and implement standards and drive adherence to processes, ensuring correct practice and correcting behaviours contrary to these
  • Work together with the Workplace Services Sub-unit Head to recruit new staff and mitigate team attrition
  • Own the new starter induction process (documentation, training and review)
  • Own the team’s technical development planning in agreement with the organisation’s technical skills requirements
  • Seize project involvement opportunities based on the team’s technical capabilities and resource availability
  • Coordinate the team’s involvement in automation initiatives and technical training programs for other junior teams
  • Provide support and challenge to enable staff to work towards their career goals
  • Serve as a management escalation point for the team
  • Liaise with other teams and departments leadership for functional escalations
  • Initial management of any complaints regarding individual performance issues
  • Team performance measurement and activity reporting
  • Manage the team schedule in agreement with the organisation’s requirements
  • Actively engage Operations Management and Service delivery to ensure the proper delivery of service Mandatory:
  • Good technical knowledge of enterprise infrastructure and monitoring services
  • People oriented – able to manage different personalities and take appropriate actions for handling potential conflicts within the teams.
  • Strong/fluent written and verbal communication skills in English
Desirable
  • Good knowledge of Linux OS
  • Previous experience in a monitoring function
  • Experience working in a managed services or service provider company
  • Good knowledge of monitoring software (Nagios, Zabbix, ScienceLogic, Solarwinds)
  • Understanding of the MSD project and other processes (e.g. change control)
  • Good understanding of the ITIL Service Operations main processes
