Provides Tier 3 support of the Emerson Electric Global Communications and Information Security Services global portfolio, including 1000+ Emerson Offices and 4 Global Data Centers. Works under general supervision of Global Network Operations management both independently and with other members of the Global Network Operations team to respond to Service Requests, Problems, Incidents and Change Requests
  • Detailed understanding of the function and configuration of Cisco networking equipment
  • Extensive hands-on experience configuring and troubleshooting Cisco switches and routers
  • Extensive experience administering and configuring layer 2 and layer 3 Cisco networks, experience or operational knowledge of Cisco firewalls and load-balancers preferred
  • Advanced operational knowledge of VLANs, spanning tree, BGP & EIGRP in highly redundant and diverse WAN/LAN environments
  • Operational knowledge of Wireless LAN access points, connectors, survey and associated tools e.g Cisco Prime.
  • Operational knowledge of Remote Access user solutions including access protocols.
  • Extensive experience with network monitoring tools. Ability to analyze data and deliver metrics associated with utilization, capacity and functional operation of the network
  • Ability to comprehend and create complex network maps and drawings with Visio
  • Functional understanding of DNS, DHCP, NTP, SYSLOG, SNMP and related network services
  • Advanced understanding of IP addressing including subnetting and supernetting
  • Operational understanding of different media and cable types
  • Experience working from a ticketing system and responding to customers promptly
  • Provide proactive recognition and correction of network related problems
  • Provide telephone based support for GCIS services and functions for Tier 3 problems forwarded from the customer, problem escalation and assisting Transition and Engineering groups where needed to resolve complex issues
  • Provide support to customers during new installations
  • Work with various customer and GCIS support groups in diagnosing service related problems
  • Ability to perform maintenance activities outside of normal business hours
  • Participate in Lead engineer work rota including associated responsibilities.
  • Participate in weekend On-Call work rotation
  • Bachelor’s degree in IT is preffered
  • 3 or more years working with routing, switching and/or security devices and 7-9 years of overall IT experience
  • Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP-R&S, Security, Voice or Wireless) certification or proven experience required
  • Cisco CCNP or equivalent proven work experience
  • Experience with Cisco WLAN, VoIP and Video platforms preferred
  • Experience in large WAN and datacenter environments
  • Excellent customer service and communications skills
