Mid-Senior Java Engineer

Role Summary

Fortech is looking to add a Mid-Senior Java Engineer to its team in Iasi.

In this role, together with the client and the BA team, you will develop a web application that helps clients make informed decisions when purchasing a vehicle by finding credit information from financial institutions, insurance costs and government grants.

This will be a dynamic Agile environment, where you will have the chance to participate throughout the complete software development lifecycle, including the design and architectural decisions, and to focus on software quality through peer reviews, refactoring, continuous integration and deployment.

You will be part of our Java team in Iasi and will connect with software engineers and leaders from our client in Germany.

Your  Responsibilities 

• Contribute to design and architecture related decision
• Provide development of new features
• Perform code refactoring
• Perform continuous integration
• Perform code reviews
• Perform release activities
• Contribute to the project development process
• Contribute to the identification and diagnosis of critical points in the application environment
• Propose solutions for the elimination of bottlenecks

Your Competencies  

• Core Java expertise
• Experience with JEE
• Experience with JPA
• Relational DB: Oracle/DB2
• Experience with Web Services (REST, SOAP), JSON, XML
• Understanding of the full software development lifecycle including agile development, test-driven development and continuous integration
• Working experience with Agile Methodologies (Scrum, Kanban)
• Maven and Git knowledge
• Good working experience with Eclipse/IntelliJ
• OO design, UML & design patterns
• Good command of English

The Project

This is a web application provided by one of the most prominent players in the automotive industry for auto dealers. The application helps clients make informed decisions when purchasing a vehicle by finding credit information from financial institutions, insurance costs, and government grants.

Currently, the application runs in the UK and Austria, and soon it will be launched in Germany. The client is planning to run it in 9 more countries around Europe.
