Mid-Senior Java Developer

Role Summary

Fortech is looking to add a Mid-Senior Java Developer to its team in Cluj-Napoca.

In this role, you will be part of our Scrum Team. You will focus on the modernization of the system landscape and the adoption and integration of new tools, with the purpose of optimizing our project. You will find supportive teammates who encourage initiative and ideas for further improvement regarding technologies, infrastructure, tools, monitoring and architecture.

This will be a dynamic environment, where you have the chance to participate throughout the complete software development lifecycle, including the design and architectural decisions, and to focus on software quality through peer reviews, refactoring, continuous integration and deployment.

You will be part of our cross-functional Java team in Cluj-Napoca and will connect with software engineers and leaders from our client in Germany.

Your  Responsibilities

• Contribute to design and architecture related decision
• Provide development of new features
• Perform code refactoring
• Perform continuous integration
• Perform code reviews
• Perform release activities
• Contribute to the project development process
• Contribute to the identification and diagnosis of critical points in the application environment
• Propose solutions for the elimination of bottlenecks

Your Competencies 

• Core Java expertise
• Experience with Spring or JEE
• Experience with JPA and/or Hibernate
• Relational DB: PostgreSQL/MySQL/Oracle/DB2 etc.
• Experience with Web Services (REST, SOAP), JSON, XML
• Understanding of the full software development lifecycle including agile development, test-driven development and continuous integration
• Working experience with Agile Methodologies (Scrum, Kanban)
• Maven/Gradle and Git knowledge
• Good working experience with Eclipse/IntelliJ
• OO design, UML & design patterns
• Good command of English
• NoSQL DB is a plus

The Project

The project has 2 different directions. One is a JEE6 application with JSF and REST services on the top of Websphere v8. The purpose of the project is to facilitate the selling of pre-owned cars, manufactured by an important market player from Germany, automotive area. The second direction is a green field new project which is based on the microservices architecture and a new stack of technologies: MongoDB, Angular2, Vagrant, Ansible, Docker, Openshift. There already is a transformation in progress to split the whole team into small microservices teams, which is the long-term vision for this project.
