Purpose and organisation

This is a leading role from a transition team and has the main objective of ensuring the recruitment, management, motivation, development and appraisal of a Shared Services accounting team focussing on the delivery of the full scope of accounting services to the Northern Region legal entities.

Our colleague will have two reporting lines, local and remote.

Role responsibilities are divided in two areas: 40% understanding and coordinating operational (accounting) processes; 60% people management.

You have the necessary accounting qualifications

You have previous working experience in managing the full spectrum of a team of at least 5 people

You English language skills are B1 or above, both written and verbal

Your French language skills are B2 or above, both written and verbal

You have at least 5 years professional experience

Your Candidacy Will Have An Advantage, If

You have worked in US GAAP

You have worked with Oracle, SAP or other international ERP

You have working knowledge of European VAT legislation

You are an ACCA graduate or student

Main Responsibilities

• Overall Responsibility for the correctness of the reported financial data in accordance with US GAAP and local requirements, compliance with companies Financial Reporting Guidelines and assurance that payments taxes and social security contributions are made on time
• Co-ordination and participation in Internal audits, including ownership of any control weaknesses identified to ensure all remedial actions completed
• Day to day management and coordination of the half year and year end external audits, including liaison with the audit team on site, reporting to key stakeholders in country, ensuring all audit deliverables are prepared on time and in the required format, management of any proposed audit adjustments
• Preparation of the local GAAP Financial Statements and ensuring all local filings completed on a timely basis
• Preparation and performance of Month end, Quarter end and Annual Closing activities including the preparation and provision of supporting Audit documentation
• Senior contact and escalation point with Group Accounting and other Internal finance Stakeholders as regards day to day activities pertaining to new finance/IT requirements
• Act as a super-user for Oracle financials
• Ensure that all SOx compliance issues are managed and that any control weaknesses are identified and remediated on a timely basis
• Be recognized as a technical accounting resource by colleagues and peers, researching the implementation of new accounting standards and providing training and guidance to team members
