UX Designer

This role is suitable for candidates possessing a mix of interaction and visual design skills.

Working closely with local Product Managers, Product Owners and Agile development teams, the ideal candidate will be adept at assessing requirements, obtaining additional detail where required and proposing design solutions in the form of sketches, wireframes and interactive prototypes. They will possess genuine empathy for the user and a passion for delivering intuitive, highly usable solutions that fully meet their needs.

They will also have a keen eye for visual design and aesthetics and be capable of translating low fidelity designs such as wireframes into high fidelity mockups following established styles and visual systems. Skills in typography and iconography / vector graphics are important.

The successful candidate will be working on cutting-edge, highly interactive IT management and security software in the form of web and native desktop / tablet applications; the role is not concerned with consumer / commercial websites or marketing activity. An appreciation of complex interactions and workflows will be required.

The candidate will be part of a global UX team and collaborate frequently with peers in the broader UX organization. Some occasional travel to the UK or US may be involved as part of the role.

Key Responsibilities

• Analyze requirements and understand user needs, gaining clarification and additional detail where required, and harness the findings of user research and testing to inform decisions.
• Conceptualize and develop design solutions, producing sketches, wireframes and interactive prototypes to illustrate solutions and gain validation.
• Thoroughly consider action/reaction, state, workflow and malfunction within the context of designs, ensuring solutions are robust, well thought out and that design decisions have been based on best practice, facts and evidence rather than opinion.
• Present design solutions to colleagues, stakeholders and customers.
• Translate low fidelity designs into high fidelity mockups following established styles and standards.
• Create build-ready visual assets to support development.
• Contribute to the ongoing evolution of Ivanti’s common design language.

Qualifications / Experience

• Windows based application design.
• Knowledge of IT and/or enterprise-grade software a significant advantage.
• Experience in comparable roles within a consultative or corporate environment.
• Good command of English, with excellent communication, organizational and interpersonal skills.
• Competent in the use of leading wireframe / prototyping tools such as Balsamiq and Axure RP.
• Knowledge of the software development lifecycle and Agile development would be a plus.
• Degree level qualification in a related field such as psychology, human factors or HCI an advantage.
• Strong interaction and visual design ability which can be demonstrated through a portfolio of relevant work examples.
