Position Summary
Driving innovation and hardware automation is a key focus for our manufacturing sites around the world. Celestica is seeking an experienced Automation Solutions Architect for Europe, to further the development and deployment of advanced automated manufacturing hardware solutions to Celestica’s factories on a global scale. Preference will be given to applicants based out of Oradea, Romania, but qualified applicants in Ireland, U.K., Austria, Germany and Spain will all be considered.
The successful candidate will lead the development of automated solutions in the following:
(i) Replacing/improving existing manual operations.
(ii) New Product Introductions.
(iii) New Customer Start Up accounts.
This role requires an in-depth knowledge of complex automated assembly equipment development, cost estimating, installation and management. This is an individual contributor role, however, the successful candidate will influence other functions including Sales, Site Engineering, Operations, and Quality to ensure goals are met and that conflicts are resolved in an effective manner.
Key Responsibilities:
- Identifies opportunities for optimising manual operations through the deployment of automation to improve quality, cost and scalability.
- Responsible for determining the capital cost inputs for each business case and supporting the Sales team to price automation efficiency into future customer proposals.
- Supports site engineering teams to source suitable hardware solution providers.
- Oversees the design, build and delivery of automated solutions to Celestica factories.
- Responsible for the technical direction of site teams to achieve automation deployment, meet capital spend targets and KPIs.
- Influences internal and external customers to ensure goals are met.
- Seeks out new avenues for building internal and external relationships to further the hardware automation program in Celestica.
Experience:
Eight to eleven years operating at a Senior Engineer or Engineering Manager level in a relevant industrial setting. Ideally has experience working for a Hardware Automation Equipment manufacturer and for a manufacturing organisation where automated assembly is mature. Financial acumen is essential as all automation programs must be backed by a sound business case.
AND
Broad experience in automated manufacturing to support the market segments that Celestica supports including communications, enterprise, aerospace and defence, smart energy, medical device, industrial and semiconductor equipment
OR
Extensive experience at a recognised Hardware Automation integrator, holding positions in design, build and business development, i.e. quoting hardware solutions
Knowledge/Skills/Competencies:
- In-depth knowledge of industry and quality standards and engineering best practice methodologies.
- In-depth knowledge of material science/engineering, robotics, machine programming.
- In-depth knowledge of automated equipment pricing.
- Excellent customer contact, negotiation and problem resolution skills.
- Excellent project management, presentation, database management and computer skills.
- Strong knowledge of statistical process control methods and techniques.
- Ability to simultaneously manage several projects and coordinate multiple, changing deadlines.
- Ability to effectively communicate with a wide variety of internal and external customers.
- Duties require 25% to 30% travel. Initially, the majority of the work is expected to be located in Oradea, Romania.
Education:
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
