Software Engineering Intern Job Description

The Intel Movidius Team have been at the forefront of designing and delivering solutions for exciting new machine vision markets and have delivered the successful Myriad Vision Processing Unit (VPU) processors and Neural Compute Stick Programs. We continue to work on innovative Deep Learning and Computer Vison SoC designs resulting in exciting opportunities for embedded software engineers.

The Vision Processing Unit (VPU) Software team are responsible for delivering embedded Software and Firmware for these SoC developments. The team is involved in exciting and challenging projects from concept, through architecture into design, and finally debug and release of new silicon and software products. Our teams are involved in all phases of projects from pre-silicon and early prototyping to final customer delivery.

As an Intern Engineer you will play an integral role in helping our software teams implement and validate our software deliverables. Training will be provided and you will be paired with one of our experienced engineers for mentoring and support, and you will be given specific tasks to deliver.

• You will learn both Embedded C/C++ development and C/C++ for Linux.
• You will experience product-level software code development, code reviews, continuous integration systems, and debugging on hardware and software.
• You will develop strong collaboration and team-working skills, as well as an ability to work effectively in multi-disciplinary hardware and software teams.
• You will be involved in all phases of projects from pre-silicon and early prototyping to final customer delivery.

Qualifications

• Studying for Bachelors or Masters in Computer Science, Electronic Engineering or equivalent
• C and/or C++ programming skills to intermediate or advanced level
• Knowledge of Linux development or with other RTOS e.g. Android
• Experience on embedded platforms e.g. Raspberry-Pi, Arduino, or similar
• Knowledge of microprocessor/microcontroller architectures.
• Likes a challenge, is a solution seeker / problem-solver.
