The Position
The IT Helpdesk Associate will play a vital role in the day-to-day operations of OPSWAT. You will perform hands-on tasks for the company including new installations, user support, troubleshooting and assisting other administrators with projects where required.

The IT Helpdesk Associate will play a vital role in the day-to-day operations of OPSWAT. You will perform hands-on tasks for the company including new installations, user support, troubleshooting and assisting other administrators with projects where required.
What You Will Be Doing
- Help the desktop support and backend team with day-to-day operations. The environment mostly consists of windows laptops and some desktops as well. Additional responsibilities may involve systems administration duties and support of internal servers. Utilizing our ticketing system you will troubleshoot and repair systems, including building and setting up new computers and anything else relating to desktop support/systems administration.
- Work alongside other systems administrators and backend IT/CloudOps/DevOps personnel to assist with small projects which could involve some network administration, systems administration, server room documentation, cabling, labeling, etc.
- You will be part of a small team who manages a company of almost 200 users. There are always things to do and we are constantly busy keeping our user community happy and productive.
- We need someone that is willing to come in, roll up their sleeves and get dirty.
- You must have basic windows installation and troubleshooting experience. You have imaged systems before and you know the basics for troubleshooting hardware issues.
- Needs to be self-motivated and eager to dive in and make a difference.
- Must have a positive attitude and an obsession to make sure our customers (Opswat employees) have everything they need and are pleased with the service they receive from IT.
- Responsible for supporting internal corporate environments and end user systems. These include:
- Desktop end user support
- Provide end-user support on all hardware and software issues that arise
- Provide phone support for off-site personnel
- Configure desktop hardware and software for new and existing users
- Maintain printers and related hardware/software as required
- Support and configure smart phones including iPhones and Android devices
- Domain Administrator responsibilities related to Active Directory such as Schema changes, Group Policies, DNS, DHCP, and other AD related tasks
- Analyze event logs and troubleshoot for issues, performance tuning for health monitoring of environment
- Perform operational support and break/fix resolution
- Routine maintenance and security patching
- Develop automated processes and scripts such as PowerShell
- Test problem hardware and software to determine cause and possible resolution
- Proactively monitor desktop systems and software for problems and/or deficiencies (i.e. lack of necessary hardware, persistent software problems, etc.)
- Manage and monitor IT ticket log for open/existing problems and resolutions
- Security Operations duties and responsibilities
- Perform operational support and break/fix resolution
- Routine maintenance and security patching
- Perform infrastructure hardening and vulnerability assessments
- Analyzes security logs daily for threats. Recommend remediation plans.
- Work closely with Information Security team to implement security policies
- Project work as required
- Occasional travel to various equipment locations as required by management
- Attend meetings and develop project plans
- Engage technical vendors and support teams
- Must be also available for afterhours, on call work as needed, and for break-fix scenarios
- Any IT certifications.
- An understanding of basic networking principles.
- Knowledge and experience with Active Directory and Windows Server OS preferred
- Expert knowledge and experience with Microsoft Windows Operating Systems including Windows 7 and above, and Mac OS X and above
- Knowledge of Google Apps for Business, Microsoft Office, and Microsoft 365 preferred
- Knowledge of Linux operating systems preferred
- Knowledge of VMware, Xen virtualization and Hyper-V preferred
- Ability to work well in a team environment
- Willing to learn and update skills/education
