Wood is currently recruiting for a Construction Manager, with extensive experience in the oil and gas petrochemical industry. This is a Fixed term 8 Months position; 1 Month in the UK followed by 7 months in Romania.

Duties and Resposibilities
- Progressing upon a development pathway towards becoming an experienced Corporate Construction and Commissioning Manager within the Construction technical discipline.
Executing assigned scopes of work in a timely manner and within Key Performance Indicator (KPI) schedules. - Providing discipline expertise to the business.
- Delivering and actively promoting the Wood core values, policies and procedures.
- Displaying significant understanding of Wood / Client systems and processes.
- Driving safety leadership and ensuring safe delivery of multi-discipline work scopes.
- Delivering Construction activities in line with Passport to Construction Excellence (PCE).
- Reviewing planned activities for constructability, providing accurate feedback.
- Executing assigned scopes of work as a role model for reports
- Providing technical expertise and guidance on all construction related activities.
- Managing and leading all construction reports to ensure delivery against milestones and Key Performance Indicators (KPI's).
- Management of key stakeholders in the execution and delivery of contracted activities.
- Performance reporting to senior management.
- Set and apply strategic and tactical direction with regard to policy/procedures, work force staffing, and budgeting.
- Excellent interaction with construction team and all other disciplines.
- Develop team working and communication skills.
- Establish and maintain good working relationships with peer groups, management, internal and external stakeholders.
- Coach / mentor / develop team by sharing knowledge and best practices.
- Mentoring, supervising and supporting development for reports - ensure learning opportunities are captured and realised.
- Lead by example, setting high personal standards for peers to follow.
- Clear communication and co-ordination with relevant site and office based personnel.
- Proactively demonstrate and drive safety and leadership.
- Provide input to the performance management of direct reports through supervision.
- Ensure management of third party suppliers in the execution of operational delivery.
- Effective delegation to ensure the continuity of work scope execution.
- Actively support resourcing and recruitment process.
- Ensure competence of direct reports & review in accordance with competency assessment programme.
- Set expectations and manage performance of direct reports.
- In conjunction with the line, manage succession planning for direct reports.
- Establish and maintain effective working relationships with peers and colleagues and communicate across the business interfaces.
- Actively promote wood Health and Safety Executive (HSE) policy procedures and initiatives in line with core values.
- Ensure good communication at all times with contract and project teams.
- Engage with and promote the construction community including: networking/knowledge sharing.
- Maintain communication with respective focal points.
- Motivate and encourage team.
- Manage interfaces across functional and business boundaries.
- Establish and maintain effective working relationships with external customers and third party vendors.
- Communicate and co-operate with external stakeholders including: industry bodies, academia, market intelligence, relevant conferences, vendors, business acquisition and business development.
- Time served relevant trade discipline or relevant NVQ/SVQ/HNC/HND.
- MIST/BOSIET.
- Extensive years relevant construction experience.
- Oil and gas experience is essential.
- Exposure to working within a technical environment.
- Experience of people management (construction).
- Sufficient experience within Lead role.
- Excellent interpersonal organisational, communication and team building skills.
- Computer literate.
- Fully conversant with regards to discipline technical knowledge.
- Proven experience of interpreting discipline documentation.
- Sound knowledge and understanding of Risk Assessments (RA), Hazard and Operability Studies (HAZOPS) and Hazard Identification Studies (HAZIDS).
- Ability to work with timelines/targets.
- Display both good judgment and leadership qualities.
- Ability to be assertive and drive culture change when required.
- Ability to advise system and subsystem priorities within construction activities with a view to achieving early handover.
- Ability to monitor work progress and report against the plan.
